Musing Mondays

MusingMondays5

Musing Mondays is run by Should Be Reading and asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).

• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!

• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.

• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!

• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

My Musing:

I joined in with an online discussion on a forum recently started by someone who disliked ereaders and ebooks a lot. I'll be honest and say I didn't like the idea of them at first but I gradually changed my mind the more I heard about them and got my kindle in 2011. I love the fact I can download a book and start reading it straight away, I can also read for longer on the kindle than if I'm reading a traditional book as my eyes don't get so tired. It's also great when I go on holiday, I just pack my kindle, no more having to decide which books to take (and I always packed too many). However if I read 2 or 3 ebooks in a row then I do miss the feel of a tree book so will read one next and I still borrow a lot of books from my local library.
If people don't want to read ebooks I have no problem with that but surely what's important is that people are reading and enjoying books whatever the format, also if ereaders encourage more people to read who may not have otherwise then it can only be a good thing.
