Village Candles

A few weeks ago Village Candle kindly sent me some of their products to review. I love scented candles, I'm a big fan of Kringle and Yankee so was looking forward to trying these.

I got a small jar (11 fl oz) of Violet Blossom with a burn time of up to 55 hours. The scent is described as containing violet, iris, rose, heliotrope and musk. I'm not usually a huge fan of flower scents but liked this as it's not too overpowering. Also as the smaller size is a wide candle (unlike other makes) you still get a good scent throw.

The Rendezvous medium jar (16 fl oz) I received lasts for up to 105 hours. This contains cedar, grapefruit, orange and musk. Although more of a masculine scent there was enough of a hint of the fruit scents coming through for me.

The large jar (26 fl oz) was Raspberry Rose Tea (raspberry, herbs, tea and musk) and this size jar has a maximum huge burn time of 170 hours. Out of the three this was my favourite, I could definitely smell the raspberry and tea scents.

What I especially like about these premium jar candles is that they all have 2 wicks, this means a more even clean burn. You get an excellent wax pool very quickly, thankfully no tunnelling issues with these.

I've been very impressed with the quality of Village Candles, I have already bought myself a Frozen Margarita one and shall treat myself to more in the future.

Easter School Holiday

So today the girls are back at school. One of the great things about my job is that I only have to work two full days a week, giving me plenty of time with them in the school holidays. This Easter break my Mum helped out with the childcare and they stayed with her in Bury St Edmunds for a few days and we've enjoyed daytrips to Felixstowe and Colchester Zoo. Roll on May half term!

Kringle Candles

I know that strictly this is supposed to be a book blog but I do occasionally post about other things. Today I thought I'd let you know about my latest obsession, Kringle Candles. Now, I was a fan of Yankee for a long time and particularly liked their Silver Bells scent. As often seems to happen with the ones I like it was withdrawn and while trying to search for some online I heard about Kringle and decided to give their Christmas fragrance a go as it was getting good reviews. I loved it and have also bought a large jar in the sale for Christmas 2014.

All of the Kringle candles are white so they fit in with any colour of decor. The candles I have tried have burnt very cleanly and the jars can be re-used after the candle has burned down. I'm using two in the bathroom with pebbles and shells in.

I'm also a new convert to wax melts, you can break bits off easily so you don't need to use the whole melt in one go.

Here are some of the candles and melts I was given for Christmas and have treated myself to:

I've placed two orders directly with Kringle UK and both times was impressed with how well the items were packaged, delivery is only £2.50 and free if you spend over £30.

Walking in Woodbridge

I've decided to go off topic and post about a walk all four of us went on this morning. It's been a little while since we've been on one as I don't enjoy walking in very hot weather, as we weren't keen on driving too far we decided on the four mile circular walk in Woodbridge from this book: 50 Walks in Suffolk. Woodbridge, only five miles from where we live, is a lovely little town and despite going many times to stroll along the river or take the girls to the park we've surprisingly never done this walk before. It was wonderful, it took us along the river, through some woods and part of the town passing by the church. It's definitely a walk I'll go on again as it doesn't take too long to do and isn't too far to travel to by car.
